Community Development

This is a ten- year community regeneration programme administered and funded by the Welsh Government with a view to improving the lives of People in Wales’ most deprived Communities. Over 100 wards in Wales have qualified for inclusion, including most of Holyhead. Mon CF employs about 30 staff and is involved in a wide range of community regeneration projects.

Communities First

This is a ten-year community regeneration programme administered and funded by the Welsh Assembly Government with a view to improving the lives of people in Wales' most deprived communities. Over 100 wards in Wales have qualified for inclusion, including four areas in Holyhead. These Partnerships together employ over 30 staff and are involved in a wide range of community regeneration projects. The Welsh Assembly is currently reviewing future arrangements in the light of new statistics.

Food Co-operatives

The community partnerships have established food co-operatives to improve the diet of local residents. These provide local people with fruit and vegetables at a reasonable cost.

Community Training

Various courses and training opportunities are provided at different locations around Holyhead - these include the JE O'Toole Centre, Ty Cyfle, schools and community centres. New IT training facilities have been installed at several locations in the town.

Community Centres

There are several active community centres in Holyhead. Several centres have recently been improved (e.g. Town Hall and Kingsland Community Centre) and a new community centre was created at the old Tile Centre in London Road.There are several active community centres in Holyhead. Environmental Projects

Various community environmental projects are underway e.g. the employment of environmental workers, litter picking sessions and environmental audits.

Community Needs Audits

Community consultations and needs audits have been undertaken to identify local problems, needs, priorities and ideas.
